What LingoTello is

LingoTello is an Android app for learning German, Spanish, French or English by reading and listening. It has 1,000 lessons with natural audio per language, from A1 to C2 (about 17 hours of listening in each): stories and topics about daily life, work, travel and society. While you listen, the highlight follows the word being spoken; tap a word and you see its meaning in your language without the audio stopping, and you can save it together with the sentence it came from.

Why it exists

It starts from a simple idea: you learn a language by hearing a lot of it, and you understand it better when you can read what you hear and tap what you don't get. Flashcards and isolated drills teach words; listening to whole texts teaches what the language actually sounds like. LingoTello puts both on one screen, with three reading modes so you choose how much help you want: glosses, a full translation, or only the language you're learning.

Principles

Courses
